Giuseppe Verdi's "La Traviata" was voted the "most beautiful opera of all time" by a wide margin, and this enthusiasm is still evident in opera fans around the world.
It will be a very special experience when John Osborn, one of the world's most sought-after tenors, takes on the role of Alfredo Germont in the Rhein-Main Theater Niederhausen on August 30, 2014 at 7:30pm. Maestro Osborn made his debut in this role alongside Elena Mosuc at the Arena di Verona in the summer of 2013.
Osborn, a native of Iowa, is a frequent and regular guest at the major opera houses of the world, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, the Vienna State Opera, La Scala, the Arena di Verona and the Opera House Zurich to name just a few. In 2012, John became the first non-Italian singer to win the coveted "Premio Aureliano Pertile" award in Asti, Italy. His most recent major successes in late 2013 and early 2014 include the title role in The Tales of Hoffmann at the Opéra National Lyon and the role of Werther in Massenet's opera at the renowned opera house in Frankfurt am Main.
Highlights of his extensive discography include a DVD recording of Rossini's "Armina" with Renée Fleming from a 2011 production by the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and last year he released a CD recording of Bellini's "Norma." The new version of the classic opera, as John played the role of Pollione at the side of Cecilia Bartoli, was modeled on the styles of Bellini's era and was celebrated as the biggest event of the 2013 Salzburg Festival.
In addition of numerous other appearances, this exceptional artist is engaged to perform Otello in Rossini's "Otello, ossia il Moro di Venezia" again with Cecilia Bartoli at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Paris, as well as at the 2014 Salzburg Festival.
Singing the tragic role of "the lost one" Violetta Valéry, Opera Classica is pleased to have the extraordinary talent of Lynette Tapia. The Bolivian-American coloratura soprano won the 1996 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and has impressed critics and journalists alike ever since with her crystal clear voice. Engagements have taken her to many famous opera houses in the U.S. and Europe, including the Los Angeles Opera, Washington Concert Opera, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Cologne Philharmonic, and others.
