Opera Classica Europa
Operas and Concerts in the most beautiful historical venues of Europe
With classically staged opera productions and gala concerts in gorgeous venues, Opera Classica Europa has been building itself an excellent reputation in Germany as well as other European countries. Fortresses, Castles, well-maintained Ruins, Abbeys and other historical centers are the backgrounds for unforgettable musical experiences.
Every production is individually adapted to each site so as to highlight the natural beauty and atmosphere of these venues. Not only that, but the summer provides a special atmosphere for our open-air productions, enabling the audience to experience the drama and beauty of opera up close.
Some of the regular sites for our productions include the Château de Buc/Versailles in France, the basilica of Eberbach Abbey, Castle Höchst in Frankfurt, the Kurpark and Kurtheater in Bad Homburg, the Domplatz in Limburg an der Lahn, Eppstein Fortress in Taunus, the Kurpark and Kurhaus in Bad Schwalbach, Hayn Fortress in Dreieichenhain, Castle Braunfels near Wetzlat, the Fichtelsee in the Fichtel mountains, as well as the Pfalzbau in Ludwigshafen, to name a few. Outside of Germany, we have produced operas in Santa Cruz de la Palma in the Canary Islands, Valencia and Gijon in Spain, Plovdiv in Bulgaria, Lecce in Italy, Château de Vĉves in Belgium, Dubrovnik in Croatia, and the Théâtre de Vevey on Genfer Lake in Switzerland.
Opera Classica Europa regularly presents beautiful and well-known operas such as "La Traviata," "Aida," "Rigoletto," "Nabucco," and "Otello" by Giuseppe Verdi, as well as "Tosca" and "Madame Butterfly" from Giacomo Puccini, "Cavalleria Rusticana" with "I Pagliacci" from Pietro Mascagni and Ruggiero Leoncavallo, "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" by Gioacchino Rossini, "Carmen" by Georges Bizet, "Manon" from Jules Massenet, "Der Freischütz" of Carl Maria von Weber, "Fidelio" by Ludwig van Beethoven, and last but not least "Die Zauberflöte" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. By grouping international soloists who have already graced the greatest stages of the world such as the Metropolitan Opera of New York, the Wiener Staatsoper, La Scala and the Arena di Verona, with renowned orchestras, well-known conducters and impressive choruses, we are able to consistently produce works of the highest quality: "In the main roles, Bad Schwalbach's Opera Classica Europa spared no expense..." - FAZ, July 12, 2009; "...the singing and music making was stunningly good." - Frankfurter Rundschau, July 2, 2004.
Along with these strong opera performances, Opera Classica Europa regularly produces crowd-pleasing Gala Concerts with famous melodies from operas and operettas. Also a regular feature in our event calendar is the fascinating "Classic Meets Rock." In this wildly entertaining and musically varied show for both young and old, rock singers and rock bands stand together with opera singers and orchestra musicians on a single stage and perform a magical mixture of legendary rock classics and famous opera arias.
